Indian Navy Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: The Indian Navy has invited applications from outstanding unmarried male and female sportspersons for enrolment as Sailors under Sports Quota Entry – 02/2026 Batch. Total Vacancies: The notification does not specify a fixed number of vacancies. Enrolment will depend on the requirement in particular sports disciplines and availability of vacancies.
Qualification
Educational Qualification:
- Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream.
- Candidates must also satisfy the prescribed sports proficiency requirements for the selected entry.
- Candidates must be unmarried male or female sportspersons.
Sports Proficiency – Direct Entry Petty Officer:
- Should have won a medal at Junior/Senior level while representing a State in National Championships.
- OR should have represented India at International level in an individual event.
- OR should have represented a State or country in National or International competitions at Junior/Senior level in a team event.
- OR should be a medalist in Khelo India Games, Youth Games or a higher-level competition.
- The certificate from the respective sports authority/Federation should accompany the recommendation for final selection.
Sports Proficiency – Direct Entry Chief Petty Officer:
- Winner of any medal in a World Championship or Asian Championship.
- Winner of any medal in the Asian Games.
- Winner of any medal in the Commonwealth Games or World Cup.
- Represented India twice in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games or World Cup.
- Represented India in the Olympic Games.

Special Conditions:
- For Shooting, only male athletes in Group ‘A’ and the top 25 athletes in Group ‘B’ as per the latest National Ranking are eligible.
- For Sailing, the prescribed achievement is applicable to the specified classes, including ILCA7, ILCA6, 49er and 49er (FX), as mentioned in the notification.
Salary Details
- During Initial Training: ₹14,600/- per month as stipend.
- After successful completion of initial training, candidates will be placed in the applicable Pay Level according to the rank.
- Direct Entry Petty Officer: Pay Level-5.
- Direct Entry Chief Petty Officer: Pay Level-6.
- Military Service Pay: ₹5,200/- per month, as applicable.
- Dearness Allowance and other applicable allowances will be admissible as per rules.
Age Limit
Candidates must be between 17½ and 25 years of age as on the date of commencement of the course.
Date of Birth: Candidates should have been born between 1st September 2001 and 28th February 2009, both dates inclusive.
Selection Process
The selection will happen through the following stages:
- Shortlisting based on sports achievements.
- Sports Trials at designated Naval Centres.
- Medical Examination.
- Preparation of the final selection list based on sports performance, service requirements and availability of vacancies.
- Police verification and other prescribed formalities.
No written examination is prescribed for this Sports Quota recruitment.
Training and Engagement
- Initial training will be conducted at INS Chilka.
- After initial training, candidates will undergo professional trade training at various Naval Training Establishments.
- The initial engagement is for 15 years, subject to successful completion of training.
- The probation period is applicable as per the conditions mentioned in the notification.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates must apply in the prescribed application format and send the completed application through Ordinary Post only.
- Download the prescribed Sports Quota application form from the Indian Navy website or use the format provided with the advertisement.
- Fill in the application form carefully.
- Only one application form should be forwarded for the entry.
- Attach self-attested copies of the required documents in the prescribed order.
- Attach the Matriculation Certificate for Date of Birth verification.
- Attach the 10th Mark Sheet.
- Attach NCC/Sports Certificate, wherever applicable.
- Attach Domicile Certificate.
- Attach 10+2 Certificate along with Mark Sheet.
- Attach one additional recent coloured passport-size photograph.
- The additional photograph should have a blue background, with the candidate’s name and signature written on the reverse side.
- Attach two self-addressed envelopes of size 22 cm × 10 cm.
- A ₹10 postal stamp should be affixed on one of the self-addressed envelopes.
- Place the application in a brown-colour envelope.
- Clearly mention the entry, sports discipline and achievement level on the envelope.
- Send the application through Ordinary Post only.
