RRB JE Recruitment 2026: 3993 Junior Engineer and Depot Material Superintendent Vacancies

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has released Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 04/2026 for recruitment to various Junior Engineer (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) posts. A total of 3,993 vacancies are available under this recruitment. Eligible candidates can apply online from 14th August 2026 to 13th September 2026.

Qualification

The qualification required is different for different posts.

For Junior Engineer posts, candidates generally need a three-year Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline or an eligible combination of engineering sub-streams from a recognised University or Institute.

For some Civil Engineering posts, a three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering or a three-year B.Sc. in Civil Engineering is also accepted.

For Depot Material Superintendent, candidates must have a three-year Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognised University or Institution. Higher qualifications such as B.E. or B.Tech are also accepted in place of the three-year Diploma in Engineering in the same discipline.

Candidates must possess the required qualification on or before 13th September 2026. Those waiting for the final result of the required qualification are not eligible to apply.

Salary Details

Pay Level: Level 6 as per 7th CPC

Initial Pay: ₹35,400/- per month

Other applicable allowances and benefits will be provided as per Railway rules.

Age Limit

Minimum Age: 18 Years

Maximum Age: 33 Years

Age will be calculated as on 1st January 2027.

Age relaxation is available as per the applicable rules. SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation and OBC-NCL candidates get 3 years relaxation. Application Fee

For General and other candidates: ₹500/-

For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minority and EBC candidates: ₹250/-

Out of the ₹500 fee, ₹400 will be refunded after deducting applicable bank charges when the candidate appears in the 1st Stage CBT.

Similarly, the ₹250 fee will be refunded after deducting applicable bank charges when the candidate appears in the 1st Stage CBT.

The application fee has to be paid online through Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI.

Selection Process

The selection process will be conducted in the following stages:

  • 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I)
  • 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-II)
  • Document Verification
  • Medical Examination

CBT-I will have 100 questions for 100 marks and the duration will be 90 minutes. The subjects include Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and General Science.

CBT-II will have 150 questions for 150 marks and the duration will be 120 minutes. The examination will cover General Awareness, Physics and Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control, and Technical Abilities.

There will be negative marking of one-third of the marks allotted for each wrong answer in the CBT examinations.

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official RRB websites.

  1. Visit the official RRB website.
  2. Create an account using your personal mobile number and email ID.
  3. Log in and select CEN No. 04/2026.
  4. Choose only one RRB and select the eligible posts and Railway Zone preferences.
  5. Enter your personal, educational and other required details.
  6. Upload the required signature and other documents as specified.
  7. Complete the online fee payment.
  8. Check all the details carefully before submitting the application.
  9. Submit the application and save the confirmation details for future use.

Candidates who already have an account from earlier RRB CENs can use the same login credentials. A valid personal mobile number and active email ID are required. Candidates are also advised to use Aadhaar or DigiLocker authentication during account creation.
