Qualification
1. Tax Assistant
- A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or equivalent as on 31 August 2026.
- After appointment, candidates must meet the prescribed data entry speed requirement of 8,000 key depressions per hour within the stipulated time.
2. Stenographer Grade II
- 12th Class pass or equivalent from a recognized board as on 31 August 2026.
- After appointment, candidates must qualify in the prescribed stenography skill test, including a 10-minute dictation at 80 words per minute and the specified transcription test.
3. Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS)
- 10th Class pass or equivalent from a recognized board as on 31 August 2026.
Sports Eligibility
Applicants must satisfy the sports achievement requirements specified in the notification. Sports achievements in competitions held between 01 January 2020 and 15 October 2026 will be considered, subject to the prescribed conditions.
The notification gives preference in the following order:
- Representation of India in an international competition with clearance from the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
- Representation of a State or Union Territory in recognized senior or junior national championships or national games, with the prescribed medals or positions.
- Representation of a university in an inter-university competition, with the prescribed medals or positions.
- Representation of a State or Union Territory in recognized Khelo India competitions, with the prescribed medals or positions.
- Representation of a State School Team in national school games, with the prescribed medals or positions.
Sports certificates must be issued by the authorities specified in the notification. Certificates from authorities not recognized for this recruitment will not be accepted. Candidates should check the detailed sports eligibility conditions and required certificate formats before applying.
Salary Details
- Tax Assistant: Pay Level 4, corresponding to the pre-revised pay band of ₹5,200–₹20,200 with Grade Pay ₹2,400.
- Stenographer Grade II: Pay Level 4, corresponding to the pre-revised pay band of ₹5,200–₹20,200 with Grade Pay ₹2,400.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): Pay Level 1, corresponding to the pre-revised pay band of ₹5,200–₹20,200 with Grade Pay ₹1,800.
The applicable pay level and allowances will be governed by the rules of the Income Tax Department and the terms of appointment.
Age Limit
The age limit is calculated as on 31 August 2026.
- Tax Assistant: 18 to 27 years
- Stenographer Grade II: 18 to 27 years
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): 18 to 25 years
Age Relaxation:
- Eligible meritorious sportspersons may receive age relaxation of up to 5 years.
- For eligible SC/ST sportspersons, the maximum relaxation may be up to 10 years, as specified in the notification.

Selection Process
